CAN YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF ?
My name is Matt Kalita, I am 26 years old, and I live in Lyon (South of France).
I am graduated from an engineering school. My education background is a general engineering Master with a specialty in materials science. I have been trained to design products for all types of sectors.
I have held several positions in the medical sector during my internships and job experiences that have led me to specialize in this field. Moreover, my whole family works in this sector, I already had a great interest in it!
Outside of work, I am a true sport fan: I play rugby and I am also a referee. I also blog on this topic, more particularly on physical transformation.
WHAT IS YOUR JOB POSITION AT DAVRICOURT ?
I am a consultant at DAVRICOURT since the beginning of 2019. I am on a mission with a client, specialized in pharmaceuticals, medical devices and biotechnology.
My assignment is to manage the entire EDM implementation (Electronic Document Management). To put it simple, I need to ensure that all technical documentation for dialysis products* is changed from paper to electronic format to be saved on the cloud and shared around the world.
To do so, I work as a Project Manager on this EDM implementation and I am supported by a dedicated team located throughout the world.
It is a long-term task since it is necessary to analyze existing paper documents, to sort them, to scan them, to reference them and to structure the data… But it is a very rewarding mission on the technical and medical aspects. I learn every day about how to manage projects and about technical issues.
Besides, I have my little rituals:
- I look at my “to do list” each morning to structure my day
- I set a projected schedule (which I often find it difficult to stick to)
- I set down key priorities according to the meetings
- I analyze the documents (e.g. a report on the results of a product’s compliance contains evidence in other documents. Therefore, it is necessary to link the documents together in the software in order to facilitate their search, especially in an audit context)
- I assess my client’s needs on the software when a new medical product is released on the market.
* The process of removing waste products and excess fluid from the body. Dialysis is necessary when the kidneys are not able to adequately filter the blood.
WHAT MOTIVATES YOU ON A DAILY BASIS ?
What drives me the most is to change the working methods through the EDM implementation for a common goal within the entire company: the well-being of patients! In fact, by disseminating information to the right people, everyone’s work is easier and patients’ health is improved!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE MOST ABOUT THE MEDICAL SECTOR ?
In addition to my family background in the medical sector (my parents are both pharmacists, my grandfather was a doctor and my sister is), what I like most is to feel as though I am improving the lives of patients waiting for a kidney transplant, without being a doctor.
I also like the medical sector processed, with its standards and regulations. From a technical stand point, and as an Engineer, I appreciate the quality of the products used in the medical sector. If some sectors are cost killing oriented, in my field, we are more quality oriented.
WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO JOIN DAVRICOURT ?
I joined DAVRICOURT for my interest in their missions. Indeed, when I was looking for a job, I was targeting the client I currently work for. Then, joining an engineering consulting company as a consultant enabled me to reach my goal.
